Erin BillyHi! My name is Erin, and I am the founder and director of TestMagic. In the early 1990s, I made my way traveling in different parts of the world (in Brazil and Europe) by helping people learn English, my native language. I had just finished a degree in English literature and was filled with the wanderlust typical of a particular subset of liberal arts majors.

In the mid-90s, I decided to come back to the US, settled in San Francisco, and continued working as a teacher. But soon I found I was eager to build something different, and in 1998, made the somewhat hasty decision to start my own learning center. It was then that TestMagic was born, right on Irving Street in the Sunset District of San Francisco.

Since 1998, we’ve expanded and grown. From a one-person shop (me!) who did all the teaching, answered all the phones, and vacuumed the carpets, we now have a full staff of incredibly talented, intelligent, and kind people who educate, create, and guide.

From day one, we’ve had one mission: Empower the student. This mission comes in many different forms, as each person is different. From teaching middle-school students who want to improve their writing to adult students applying to business school, the goal is the same–each child, student, and person is special and has unique abilities. We aim to show each person how she or he is special and important. This comes through in how we write our materials and how we interact with each person.

We welcome you to visit to talk to us about your goals; we’re always happy to give our candid and expert advice.
